Maurice Jacobs

September 22, 1889 – April 25, 1969

Maurice Jacobs, 79, of 802 Arch Ave., died at 4:30pm Friday in Healthwin Hospital after an illness of several years. 

He was born September 22, 1889, in Manchester, England, and came to South Bend 47 years ago from Chicago.  He is survived by his wife, Helen, whom he married in Detroit June 17, 1923; a son, Stanley of Baltimore MD; a granddaughter and a sister, Mrs. Esther Lund of Los Angeles CA.

Funeral services will be at 2:30pm Sunday in the Forest G. Hay & Son Funeral Home with Rabbi Elliott D. Rosenstock of Temple Beth-El officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call in the funeral home from 7 to 9pm today.  Mr. Jacobs was the founder of the former Jacobs Jewelry Store in South Bend.  He was also a veteran of WW I and a member of the Jewish Way Veterans.  The family requests that donation be made to the United Jewish Appeal.
