SOUTH BEND - George W. Jacobs, 60, of Marquette Boulevard, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday in his home of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Jacobs retired in 1993 from Wheelabrator-Frye Corp., Mishawaka, after 22 years of service and was an employee of Michiana Regional Airport in the traffic division. He was born Jan. 28, 1934, in South Bend.
On March 23, 1957, in South Bend, he married Jacqueline Chwalek. She survives with three daughters, Robin L. Manzer, Cynthia A. Jacobs and Jennifer J. McCune, all of South Bend; two sons, George J. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joseph A. of South Bend; eight grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Alice I. and Lonnie Anderson, both of South Bend; two sisters, Cora Lee Milewski and Marlene Corey, both of South Bend; and a brother, Samuel A. of South Bend. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Heart Association.
