SOUTH BEND - Mary Lou Jacob, 81, passed away in the early
morning hours of Thursday, July 24, 2008, in Fountainview Place,
Mishawaka. Mary Lou was born on November 11, 1926, in Mishawaka
as the daughter of Edward and Erma (Gillis) Verhamme.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Evelyn Peryson,
Elsie Verhamme and Irene Cokewood; and a brother, Leon
Verhamme. On July 3, 1948, in Mishawaka, as the former Mary Lou
Verhamme, she married Jacob J. Jacob who survives. Also surviving
are two daughters, Rebecca (William) Zimmerman of South
Barrington, IL and Maureen (John) Moran of Granger, IN; a
son, Edward (Barbara) Jacob of New Berlin, WI; eight
grandchildren, Jennifer, Benjamin, Tyler, Adam, Courtney,
Chelsea, Meghan and Michael; a sister, Marion Rusinek of
South Bend; and a brother, John Verhamme of Mishawaka. Mary Lou
was a member of St. Anthony De Padua Church in South Bend,
Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, Legion of Mary and MHS
Alumni Association. She was a loving, caring wife, mother,
sister, grandmother and friend.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27
from 2 to 6 p.m., with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m., in Hahn Funeral
Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28 in St. Anthony De
Padua Church, South Bend, with Rev. Derrick Sneyd officiating.
Entombment will follow in Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum, South
Bend. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Lou's name to
St. Anthony De Padua Church, 2120 E. Jefferson, South Bend, IN
