KOONTZ LAKE - Ambrose L. Jackson, 78,
of 7824 N. Tecumseh Road, Koontz Lake, Walkerton, Ind., passed
away on Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Mary E. Bartz Hospice Center,
Valparaiso, Ind.
Mr. Jackson was born on July 21, 1919, in
Walkerton, to Lester and Nina (Horning) Jackson, and lived in the
area all of his life. He was a security guard at Wells Aluminum,
North Liberty, Ind., and also retired from U.S. Steel, Gary, Ind.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Navy
Sea Bees, the North Liberty Veterans of Foreign Wars, the
Walkerton American Legion, and was a former member of the Koontz
Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
On Oct. 12, 1963, in Valparaiso, he was
married to Gladys Hill, who preceded him in death on Feb.
19, 1987. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude,
and by a granddaughter, Michelle.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Leeper
of Portage, Ind.; a son, Tony Jackson of American Falls, Idaho; a
sister, Beatrice Drake of Tyner, Ind.; a brother, Harvey
Jackson of South Bend, Ind.; and by three granddaughters and six
great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. (EST) on
Saturday in the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial
will be in the Grovertown Cemetery, with military graveside
services being conducted by the American Legion and North Liberty
VFW. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. (EST) on Friday in the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Mary
E. Bartz Hospice Center, Valparaiso.
