Mr. Alonzio Lee Ivory, 92, who
resided on North Johnson Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away
at 5:40 A.M. Saturday, September 11, 1999, at St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center, following an illness of one year. Alonzio was
born in Shorter, Alabama, on January 14, 1907. Coming from
Berrien Springs, Michigan. He had lived in South Bend for the
past five years. On August 21, 1976, in Columbus, Ohio, he
married Naomi Wilber. He was a retired employee of the
Yellow Cab Company, and was a member of the Berean Seventh Day
Adventist Church. He had served as a lay activity leader in
churches in Benton Harbor and Dayton, Ohio. While living in
Dayton, he was also active in the MECCA Program which involves
senior citizens. Surviving loved ones include his wife, Naomi;
three sons, Robert (Jeanette) Ivory and Rufus Lyle of Dayton,
Ohio, and Lonnie Ivory of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren and
many great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Johnson
of Columbus, Ohio. Preceding him in death were his parents; two
daughters, Connie and Savannah Ivory; and sixteen siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M.
Thursday at Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment will
follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the
church one hour prior to the services. Alford's Mortuary has been
entrusted with arrangements.
