Elizabeth Isza (July 11, 1911 -- Sept. 2,
2004)
Elizabeth Isza, 93, of Gamaliel, Ark.,
formerly of Erskine Boulevard, South Bend, Ind., passed away
Thursday, Sept. 2, in Mountain Home, Ark.
She was born on July 11, 1911, in Tisa
Csoma, Hungary, to the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Dobronyi)
Nyitray. On June 25, 1932, in Kalamazoo, Mich., she
married Emery J. Isza, who passed away on June 11, 1989. Also
preceding her in death were three sisters, Bernice Korpas,
Ethel Kolo and Erma Nyitray.
Elizabeth is survived by and will be missed
by her loving family: two daughters, Betty Jeanne (David) Baim
of South Bend and Eleanore Ruth (Robert) Wheeler of
Gamaliel; five grandchildren, Douglas Baim, Gregory Baim, Judith
Baim, Wendelin Jewell and Deborah Wheeler; five
great-grandchildren, Nate, Laura, Ezra, Kristin and Erin; a
sister, Grace (Paul) Augustine of Bourbon, Ind.; three
brothers, Stephen (Lois) Nyitray of Kalamazoo, Rev. John (Marie)
Nyitray of Holland, Mich., and William Nyitray of Racine, Wis.;
and by several nieces and nephews.
For many years Elizabeth had been a member
of Memorial Presbyterian Church in South Bend and served as a
former treasurer, trustee and elder of the church building fund.
She was also involved in St. Joe Chapter #465 OES, the Order of
the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Messiah Shrine No. 10. Elizabeth
was also the owner of Emery's Food from 1927 to 1951, and then
was a broker at Isza Realty from 1954 to 1975. She also enjoyed
baking Hungarian pastries to raise funds for her church.
Friends may visit with the family on
Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Welsheimer Funeral
Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, and one hour prior to the
funeral service on Thursday in the church. Funeral service will
be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1836
Portage Ave., South Bend, with Rev. Ted Lester officiating and
several family members. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
