Mrs. Helen Hertel Irish, 75, formerly of South Bend, died Friday in Otis, Oregon, after an unexpected illness. She was born on May 19, 1908 in Goshen, and lived in this area until 1930. She attended the former St. Joseph Academy, South Bend, and Sacred Heart Academy, Fort Wayne. On July 30, 1930, in South Bend, she married Paul Irish. He survives, along with a daughter, Mrs. Judy Rason of Texas; four sons, Paul John of Portland, Ore.; Patrick of Otis; Michael of Lincoln City, Ore.; and James of Prosser, Wash.; five sisters, Sr. M. Ivan Hertel, C.S.C., Sr. John Michael Hertel, C.S.C., Sr. M. Clare Marie Hertel, C.S.C., and Mrs. Elmer J. Danch, all of South Bend; and a brother, Norbert Hertel of Portland.
