Inez L. Huys

Inez L. Huys, 72, of North Indiana Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 12:51 a.m. on Sunday, June 13, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

Mrs. Huys was born on Jan. 4, 1927, in Mishawaka, as the daughter of the late Alton E. and Anna E. (Brennan) Gray. She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Huys was also preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Daniels and Mary Grace Nagle; and by a brother, Edward Gray.

On Nov. 28, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, as the former Inez L. Gray, she married Francis J. ''Frank'' Huys. Mrs. Huys is survived by her husband of 52 years, Francis; five daughters, Anne (Stephen) Jester of Mishawaka, Frances Allen of Rocky Mount, N.C., Mary Beth (Ken) Lucas, Nancy (Robert Schroder and Janice (Larry) Paszli, all of South Bend; a son, Stephen (Paula) Huys of Lawrenceville, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Jean James of Azle, Texas; and by two brothers, Thomas Gray of Mishawaka and George Gray of South Bend.

Mrs. Huys was a medical secretary for 15 years in the office of Dr. William E. Van Fleit, M.D., and retired in 1995 from the office of Dr. Bernard E. Edwards after 16 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m.
