South Bend Tribune 3/27/2000
Floyd Lawrence Husvar, 47, of South
Scott Street, South Bend, Ind., died of natural causes in his
residence. On July 26, 1952, Floyd was born in South Bend to
Rachel Walker and Donald Husvar who both preceded him in
death. Mr. Husvar is survived by his sister, Cheryl (Keith) Speheger;
his niece, Rachel Zanotti; and nephew, Matthew Donald,
all of Granger, Ind.
Mr. Husvar graduated from Jackson High
School in 1970 and attended Grand Rapids, Jr. College. Floyd
worked with his father in the family business, "Don's Liquor
Mart" on Ireland Road in South Bend. Later, Floyd sold cars
at several area dealerships. Having an affinity for cars and a
general affection for people, he enjoyed the automobile business.
Floyd loved golf, especially long daily outings that included
lunch, cards (euchre or cribbage), and lots of socializing. He
also enjoyed music and taught himself to play the xylophone,
guitar, drums and piano. Floyd played these instruments in what
he referred to as "garage bands." Floyd really enjoyed
food, dining out and cooking. He was especially proud of his
"lobster ala FL" and his dinners could last well into
the evening. His fondest memories would be of summers at Lake
Michigan, where he vacationed with his family and friends. Floyd
will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to
7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28 at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home,
located at the corner of Jefferson and Ironwood. Floyd's memorial
service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28 at the funeral
home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be
sent to the Teacher's Credit Union, 110 S. Main St., South Bend,
Ind., 46601. A fund has been established for Floyd's nephew,
Matthew Donald Speheger to further the study and research of
Down's Syndrome.
