Robert G. Hurt of Parma, Ohio, loving husband of Mary Clare (Schellinger) Hurt, formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away at home on Thursday, July 4th, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Bob was a devoted father of five, Laura (Hurt) Zannoni, Megan (Hurt) Rego, Ryan, Briana and Kayla. He was a proud "papa" to five grandchildren, Devlin, Brenden, Caine, Caymus and Autumn.
Bob graduated from Cathedral Latin High School, the University of Notre Dame, and Cleveland Marshall Law School. He began his career as a Cleveland city prosecutor and continued practicing law in Cleveland, most recently as a defense attorney for State Auto Insurance Company.
Bob is survived by his father, Fred Hurt, four sisters and two brothers. He will be lovingly remembered by his father-in-law, Boyd Schellinger; sisters-in-law, Patti Sue (Schellinger) Lindburg and Anne Schellinger; and brothers-in-law, Bob Schellinger, Jim Schellinger and Michael Schellinger; along with many nieces and nephews.
While a quiet and unassuming man, Bob had a taste for adventure, a keen appreciation of humor, deep faith, and a strong affection for Notre Dame. He will be most remembered for his love of family and friends. Bob led by example, and those who knew him will be touched forever by his life, his courage and his love.
Funeral services were held July 8th in Holy Family Church, Parma, Ohio.
