MISHAWAKA - Rose M. Hurstel, 89, of Transitional Health
Services of South Bend, formerly of Jamestown Court South, died
at 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the nursing home. Mrs. Hurstel retired in
1971 from St. Matthew School, South Bend, as a teacher after 19
years of service.
She was born Jan. 23, 1906, in Marquette, Mich., and lived in Mishawaka
most of her life. On Sept. 1, 1927, in South Bend, as Rose M. Daele,
she married Theodore J. Hustel. He died Oct. 7, 1967. She is
survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Miller of South Bend; a son, Carl
of Mishawaka; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a
sister, Sister M. Caroline Daele, CSJ, of Tipton, Ind. She was a
member of Harvest House of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger,
and St. Anthony DePadua Catholic Church, South Bend, and Holy
Cross Brothers Association, and was a promoter for Miraculous
Medal Association.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony
DePadua Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will be in St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where a combined wake
will be said at 4 p.m. by the parish and Associates of St.
Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul
Society.
