SOUTH BEND - On November 4, 2009, David Terrance Huntley passed
from this world to his longed for home in heaven. He was a
devoted Christian and a member of Northway Church of Christ. For
years David had been both a Shriner and a Mason. It was his wish
to help others in any way possible and his special love was for
children. David worked for The Michigan State Highway Department
over 30 years and had owned The Three Oaks Hardware Store in
Three Oaks, MI. He moved from Michigan to Indiana in 2000 to
begin a new life. David and his wife Kalyn (VanDeGenahte) met in
1998 and were later married. She survives along with his beloved
family: sister, Musa (Harold) Knickerbocker; brother, Mark (Elsa)
Huntley; daughter, Sheila (Doug) Bittler; with grandchildren,
Olivia, Isabel and Braydon; son, Bob (Carrie), with
grandchildren, Mallery, Lauren and Emily; son, Brian (Sallie)
with grandchildren, Daniel and Rachel; sister-in-law, Carol (Jim)
McCann; children of his heart, Brenda , Deana and Josh; best
friends, Maggie and Russ; minister, childhood friend and
brother-in-spirit, Ed (Glenda) Erskin. There was a very special
place in David's heart for his family. We were his life. We
shared all the good times and we were there when his LORD called
him home. "In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were
not so, I would have told you. I go there now to prepare a place
for you." (John 14:2) We give God all the glory and praise
for this wonderful man, both in life and death. We would like to
think that we held David's hand throughout this, but the truth is
that David's love and his strong faith in God sustained us. As a
last gift, David donated his body as both a tissue and organ
donor and as a teaching tool. His tissue donation alone has
already touched over 75 lives on the donation list! His legacy to
all: John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one
another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another"
A memorial will be held at Northway Church of Christ, 19525 Auten
Road, South Bend, IN, on Nov. 20th at 7 P.M.
