MISHAWAKA - Lewis O. Hunt, 94, of
Edgar Street in Mishawaka, died at 4:35 p.m. Monday, September
12th, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Lewis
was born in Tipton County, Indiana, on August 31, 1911, to Ernest
and Winnie (Adkinson) Hunt. He married Pauline A.
Armantrout on his birthday, August 31, 1946, in Mishawaka. He is
survived by Pauline, his wife of 59 years; two daughters, Donna
(John) Mason of South Bend and Marilyn (Lenny) Martynowicz
of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, John L. and James L. Mason.
Among other survivors are two brothers, Charles (Arlene) Hunt of
Mishawaka and Carl "Sam" (Joanne) Hunt of Centerville,
Michigan.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents,
and by three brothers, Dayton, Robert and Richard Hunt. He
retired in 1976 from Mishawaka Utilities after 31 years of
service with the Electric Department. Lewis served his country in
the Army, beginning his career in 1930 and retiring in August
1971. His interests included fishing, camping and traveling. He
and Pauline were members of the International Air Stream Club.
They wintered in Florida in the Air Stream for 15 years. He was a
lifetime member of VFW Post 360 in Mishawaka, and was a member of
St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South Bend.
Friends may spend time with the family from
4 to 8 p.m. today, September 14, in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N.
Main St. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St.
Anthony Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens, where VFW Post 360 and American Legion Post 161
will conduct military rites. Memorial contributions may be made
to the American Red Cross.
