SOUTH BEND - Glenn O. Hunt, 82, of South Bend, passed away
on Friday, August 10, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center,
South Bend. Glenn was born on July 5, 1925, in Mishawaka, as the
son of William H. and Estella E. (Inks) Hunt. He was
preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Hamzy;
and two brothers, Donald E. and Robert L. Hunt.
On August 17, 1947, in Albright Church,
Mishawaka, he married the former Dorothy Jane Weis, who
preceded him in death on September 11, 1972. On July 1, 1973, in
Coalbush United Methodist Church, he married Irene (Gerber)
Haney. Surviving Glenn are his wife Irene; a son, Stephen
C. (Lorene) Hunt of Portland, OR; a daughter, Carol L. (Oscar) Loveless
of LaPorte, IN; his stepchildren, Sheila Dunbar of South
Bend, Jacalyn (Rolando) Mario of Kent, WA, James (Debbie)
Haney of North Liberty and Sally Rigney of Wyatt, IN; 11
grandchildren; and three great -grandchildren.
Glenn was a teacher and counselor for South
Bend Community School Corp. In his thirty-two years as an
educator, Glenn also served at Logansport, Lawrenceburg and
Jimtown High Schools, retiring from Navarre Middle School in
1985. In retirement, Glenn and Irene spent 20 years as antique
dealers, traveling often and gaining many friends. He was a
longtime member of Michiana Male Chorus, Coalbush United
Methodist Church, St. Joseph County Retired Educator's
Association, having served as president for two years, which is a
part of Indiana Retired Teachers Organization, and was a Charter
member of South Bend Symphonic Choir. He lived in Lawrenceburg,
IN, for nine years from 1955 to 1964 before returning to
Michiana. He was loved and adored by many and will be missed by
all.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 8
p.m. on Monday, August 13, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th
Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., with a
visitation one hour prior in the church, on Tuesday, August 14,
in Coalbush United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Jim
Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of
Glenn to Michiana Male Chorus or Coalbush United Methodist
Church.
