Donald D. Humberger

SOUTH BEND - Donald D. Humberger, 88, of St. Cloud, FL,
formerly of South Bend, passed away Friday morning, November 7th,
in Southern Oaks Rehab Center, St. Cloud, FL. He was born March
3, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Raymond and Edna (Gorney)
Humberger. Donald married Eileen Anderson in South Bend,
who also preceded him in death. Surviving to cherish his memory
are his sister, Jane M. Niblick, and niece, Rita Harvey
(William) of St. Cloud, FL. Mr. Humberger retired from Inland
Steel Co. at Indiana Harbor as an electrical engineer. Don
entered the United States Army in 1941 and in February 1943 he
was captured as a prisoner of war for 26 months and was awarded
the Purple Heart for wounds received during his honorable service
to his country. He was discharged in 1945. He was a member of St.
Joseph Lodge 45 F&AM (formerly 294), The Scottish Rite Valley
of South Bend and the Grand Lodge of Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 13th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., with Rev. James Campbell officiating, and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 7: p.m.
