Sister M. Justina Hughes CSC, 90, as Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday in the convent. She was born July 6, 1902 in Hawkeye, Iowa, as Leona Claire Hughes. She was received as a novice in the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Jan. 6, 1930 and professed her vows on Jan. 6, 1932. She was a home economics teacher and a licensed dietitian before entering the convent. She was assigned to the home economics department of St. Mary’s College, as well as St. Joseph Medical Center and hospitals in Salt Lake City, Idaho and Californis; and schools in California. She retired to the convent in 1987.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Christ the King Chapel of St. Mary’s. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
