WALKERTON - Helen Jeanette Hughes, 80, passed away on
Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth, IN. Mrs. Hughes
was born April 2, 1927, in Mt. Greenwood, IL, to Henry Dill and
Mary Hester (Donnelly) Reed, and had lived in the
area for 20 years, coming from Chicago.
On April 26, 1947, in Watseka, IL, she was
married to James T. Hughes Sr., who preceded her in death. She
was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two
brothers. Survivors include five children, Irene (David) Mikesell
of South Bend, Janyce and Claude Ogle of Walkerton, James
Jr. and Coleen Hughes of South Bend, Mary and Ernest Rollings
of Plymouth, Edward Sr. and JoAnn Hughes of Walkerton; a sister,
Teresa (Ed) Holderness of Florida; 14 grandchildren, Lynn
Mikesell of South Bend, Tracy (Jay) Burks of South Bend,
Claude (Michelle) Ogle of Bourbon, Natalie Ogle of Walkerton,
Rhonda Ogle of Walkerton, Kimberly Hughes of South Bend, Melissa
Hughes of South Bend, Stephanie Hughes of South Bend, Jeanette
Rollings of Plymouth, Thomas Rollings of Plymouth, Marie-Celeste Berkman
of Alaska, Michelle Lilla of California, Edward Hughes
Jr. of Walkerton and Angelica Hughes of Walkerton; 15
great-grandchildren, Merle, Kaitlyn, Derek, David, Dustin, Allie,
Erin, Robert, Brandon, Shawn, Christina, Austin, Jessica, Emma
and Colby. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Dominic's Church
of Koontz Lake, a member of the Ladies Guild of the church, and
an advisor to the Rural Youth Club of St. Joseph County.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. (Eastern
Time) Saturday in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel,
where friends may call from 3 p.m. (Eastern Time) until the time
of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's
choice.
