SOUTH BEND - Gloria Jean Huemmer, 83, passed away on Dec. 20, 2009, after a 15-year struggle with Parkinson disease. She was born in Mishawaka, IN, on May 21, 1926, to Marcel and Martha Speybroeck, who preceded her in death. In South Bend, IN, she is survived by a sister, Marcella Niemier, and brother-in-law, Harry Niemier, along with three nieces and three nephews. Gloria graduated from St. Joseph Academy in South Bend, IN, in 1944. In 1945 she married her first husband, James Pierce, who preceded her in death. In 1960 she married her second husband, Thomas Huemmer, who survives with her six children and one granddaughter. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 State Road 933, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
