Charles Peter Howell, 87, 54899 Moss Rd., formerly of Rt. 2, North Liberty, died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday in the Hall Nursing Home. Born on March 30, 1875, in Union Twp., he came to South Bend about three years ago. He married Grace Jackson in 1899. She died in 1959.

He was a retired farmer. He is survived by a son, Milo and two daughters, Mrs. Irene Bunch and Mrs. Esther Day, all of South Bend; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two brothers, John of Lakeville and Clarence of Hobart, Ind. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Hollis Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Charles P. Howell, 54899 Moss Rd., who died Tuesday, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Hollis Funeral Home. Rev. Orlo Munger, former pastor of Olive Branch Evangelical United Brethren Church will officiate, and burial will be in the Rae Porter Cemetery, North Liberty.

Pallbearers will be John and Ronald Howell, Karl Huff, Harold Geyer, Thomas Doyle and Larry McMichael.
