SOUTH BEND - On Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9, 2010, at 10:35 a.m.,
into the loving arms of our Dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Ida Daisy "Peaches" Hoston entered into eternal rest.
Let this Mother's Day be a declaration in the heavens that Ida
Hoston was a phenomenal mother. She nurtured us all with her
sweet spirit and her meekness. Therefore, we pause to commemorate
her passing from this life to be with her Maker in Heaven. Ida
was born in Pulaski, Virginia, on October 7, 1922, to the late
James Clarence and Juanita M. (Hogan) Price. She was the fifth
child of 11 born to this union. She graduated from Christianburg
High School, Christianburg, VA, and accepted Christ at an early
age at First Baptist Church of Magazine Street, Pulaski, VA. On
July 4, 1942, she was united in holy matrimony to Herman Hoston,
who preceded her in passing. To this union she was blessed with
three children. In 1947 they moved to South Bend, Indiana. She
united with Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church approximately 60
years ago where she served on the Mamie Bingham Missionary
Society, in the kitchen, and as a representative for Church Women
United. Being an avid bowler, Ida was a member of the Women's
Indiana State Bowling Association (WISBA), bowling in the Seeley
Ma & Pa's Boot League, the Rollettes, and the Monday Night
Women's Classic League. She was inducted into the St. Joe Valley
Bowling Hall of Fame and the Indiana State Bowling Hall of Fame.
She was also a coach for the Junior Bowling Association, Girl
Scout Leader, an Avon Representative, and President's Club Member
for over 20 years. She was the last living member of the
Peppyettes. She enjoyed sewing, helping others, and spending time
with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly
called her "Umma." Her loving legacy leaves to cherish
her memory, children: Bishop Ronald J. (Jennifer) Hoston of
Rochester, NY, E. Dorphine (Vernon) Payne of Kalamazoo, MI,
