Obituary - Walkerton Independent  July 27, 1917 

 

Emmet Hostetter, son of John and Sarah Hostetter, was born in Noble county, Indiana, May 15, 1863 and died of cerebral hemorrhage at his home in Walkerton, July 24, 1917, aged 54 years, 2 months and 14 days.  When but a small boy he moved with his parents to Nebraska where he lived for several years and was employed as line man by the Western Union Telegraph company.
About the year 1880 he came with his people to Walkerton.  Sept. 17, 1890, he was united in marriage to Jennie Lee.  To this union five children were born, one dying in infancy.  There are left to mourn his departure, his wife and four sons, Mintle, Lee, Roy and Russell, one grandson, Stanley Hostetter; also one brother B.F. Hostetter, Lincoln, Nebraska and four sisters, Mrs William Clem, South Bend; Mrs Ella Stroup, Chicago; Mrs Clara Miller, Detroit, and Mrs Hattie Hagadorne, New York, besides five nephews, three nieces and many other relatives and friends to whom his sudden death came as a shock.
For many years he was employed by the Hudelmyer and the Walkerton Lumber Co and was valued as a faithful employee, later and until recently he worked for Schlosser Brothers.  He was a member of the K.O.T.M. lodge.
The funeral was held Thursday at 2:30 pm at the United Brethren church, Rev S.O. Goodrich officiating.  Internment was in Woodlawn cemetery.
