SOUTH BEND - Private memorial services were held for Ferdinand ''Fred'' Hostetler, 74, of Maricopa, Ariz., formerly of South Bend, who died Sept. 23 in Maricopa. Simes Mortuary, Casa Grande, Ariz., handled arrangements.

Mr. Hostetler was employed by Bendix Corp. for 34 years. He was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Elkhart. He is survived by his wife, Helen Hostetler of Maricopa; a daughter, Coralice Maxey of South Bend; a son, Robert of Maricopa; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Helen Hostetler of Arkansas and Joyce Lee of California. He was a member of the Studebakers Drivers Club, the Model ''A'' Club, and past president of the Osceola Town Board.
