SOUTH BEND - LaRayne K. Horvath, 88, passed away in her
daughter's home on November 23, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. LaRayne was
born on December 13, 1919, in Plum City, Wisconsin, to the late
Levi J. and Christina (Hie) King. She married
Steven J. Horvath on August 22, 1942, in Plum City, Wisconsin. He
passed away on April 18, 1979. Survivors include her daughter,
Judith K. Cauffman of Mishawaka; twin sons, Dana S.
Horvath of White Pigeon, MI, and Donald S. (Barbara) Horvath of
Granger, IN; six grandsons, James R. Cauffman, Jeffrey S.
Cauffman, Robert S. Horvath, Dana S. Horvath Jr., Marc A. Horvath
and Joseph S. Horvath; six great-grandchildren, Jessica, Joel,
Dylan, Zoe, Xavier, and soon-to-be-born Emma or Quinn. She is
also survived by her three sisters, Lila Van Hecke of
Mishawaka, Velma Luehne of La Crosse, WI, and Verneal Froystad
of Milwaukee, WI; her brother, C. Joseph King of Altoona, WI; and
by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five
siblings, LaVerne Kern, Marge O'Brien, Gilbert
King, Donald King and Bernard King. LaRayne was a surgical tech
at Saint Joseph Medical Center for many years. She was a member
of the Holy Family Catholic Church. LaRayne was a fantastic
mother, grandma and great-grandma.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 1 p.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, Indiana Inc., 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to Pet Refuge Inc., 2300 W. 6th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
