John M. Horvath (Jan. 13, 1920 - Feb. 5,
2000)
John M. Horvath, 80, of South Camden
Street, passed away after a brief illness at 3:55 a.m. on
Saturday, Feb. 5, in the Hospice House.
Mr. Horvath was employed for 19 years with
Drewery's, and retired from St. Joseph High School. He was a
World War II Army veteran who received the Purple Heart. John was
a life member of D.A.V. #39 and American Legion #50. Mr. Horvath
enjoyed working on watches and going to garage sales.
He was born on Jan. 13, 1920, in South Bend,
Ind., to John and Madeline Horvath, who both preceded him in
death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Behoff.
On Oct. 11, 1947, in South Bend, he married
Bertha Farkas, who survives. He is also survived by a
daughter, Barb (Mike); a son, John (Laura) Horvath of South Bend;
and by seven grandchildren, Rose Marie, Jennifer, Melissa,
Christina, Kimberly, Michael and Hilary.
Services will be conducted at 11:15 a.m. on
Tuesday, Feb. 8, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble
Avenue. Military services will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
