Irene L. Horvath, 84, died at Cape
Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Fla., after a brief illness.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1917, to the late
Joseph and Clara Maculski in Mishawaka, Ind. She was also
preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy; and by a brother, Edward.
She married Steve J. Horvath on April 20, 1940. Irene was a South
Bend, Ind., resident for most of her life, and in recent years
became a Michigan resident of Birch Lake. Irene worked for many
years for Ideal Baldoni in the St. Joseph County Assessor's
office.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; and
three daughters, Suellen (Richard) Webster of Trafalgar,
Ind., Jacquelyn (William) Falkenburg of New York City and
Pamela (Alan) VanHuffel of South Bend. She is loved and
will be missed by seven grandchildren, Tami Hogan and
Steve Hogan of Indianapolis, Ind., Andrea (John) DeGeeter
of Mishawaka, Michele (Steve) Talos of South Bend, Mark
(Kim) VanHuffel of Fishers, Ind., Jennifer (Brian) Bishop
of South Bend and David Marks of Chicago, Ill. She was
blessed with seven great-grandchildren, soon to be eight. Irene
is also survived by two sisters, Dolores Asire of South
Bend and Barbara Cross of Tucson, Ariz.
A memorial Mass will be held at 12:15 p.m.
on Saturday, Jan. 26, in St. Matthew Cathedral Church on Miami
Street in South Bend. The family will greet friends one-half hour
before the memorial services in the church. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to Mothers of Mercy, c/o St.
Matthew Cathedral Church.
