SOUTH BEND - Emma Horvath, 94, of
South 27th Street, South Bend, Ind., was found in her residence
on Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. Mrs. Horvath was born on Oct. 1, 1903,
in Keasby, N.J., to Emery and Mary Tokai. Emma was
preceded in death by her parents; and by a son, Eugene Horvath,
who died on April 24, 1978.
She was employed by the Miles O'Brien family
as a nanny. After her marriage in 1928 to Peter Horvath she was
part owner of the Clover Leaf Machine Company of South Bend.
After her divorce she was employed by Sears Roebuck and Company.
After her retirement from Sears she worked at the Legal Aid
Society. For many years she was a first-aid instructor with the
Red Cross, receiving an award from them.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Sophie Tokay
of Granger, Ind.; a nephew, Ronald Tokay of South Bend; two
nieces, Marilyn Madaj of Wisconsin and Carolyn Stevenson
of Connecticut; and by three cousins, Albert F. Tengelitsch
of South Bend, Robert Tengelitsch of Russel Springs, Ky., and
William Tengelitsch of Bremen, Ind.
There will be no services or visitation.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in the St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Gardens. The Zahoran Funeral Home handled the
arrangements.
