SOUTH BEND - Elma M. Horvath, 96, passed away at 12:30
a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, in the Holy Cross Care & Rehab
Center. Elma was born on April 4, 1912, in South Bend, to John
and Velma (Horak) Torma. She had been employed by
South Bend Supply, was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church,
its Harvest House, St. Anne Society and Sacred Heart & Rosary
Society.
On June 1, 1935, she married Frank G.
Horvath. He died on October 22, 1989. Elma was also preceded in
death by a grandchild, Ryan Horvath; a great-grandchild, Molly Ridenour;
her sister, Sister M. Scholastica, FDC; and four brothers,
John Torma, Steven Torma, Peter Torma and Frank Torma. Surviving
are a daughter, Susan (James) Mazurkiewicz of South Bend;
five sons, Robert (Roberta) Horvath of Antioch, IL, Philip
(Barbara) Horvath of Plymouth, MI, Dennis (Jan) Horvath of
Indianapolis, Charles (Nancy) Horvath of Rochester, MN, and
Martin Horvath of South Bend; 18 grandchildren, Todd
Mazurkiewicz, Rebecca Ridenour, Rob Horvath, Jason Horvath, Jeff
Horvath, Jillian Horvath, Sheila Cousino, Sheryl Horvath,
Scott Horvath, Stephen Horvath, April Grossman, Diana Ashmore,
Sarah Horvath, Michael Horvath, Matthew Horvath, Stephen Horvath,
Ethan Horvath and Levi Horvath; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, in Our Lady of
Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Family and friends may call one-half hour prior to services in
the church. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, is
handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Church or to
Holy Cross Care & Rehab.
