Mrs. Elizabeth Szalai Horvath, 83, of Rt 2, New Carlisle, died at 2:45am today in the Cardinal Nursing Home after a four month illness.

Born April 22, 1892, in Nagylos, Hungary, she had lived in New Carlisle 44 years, moving from South Bend.  On May 11, 1911, in South Bend, she married Alex R. Horvath, who died in March 1962.  Surviving are two sons, Steve and John, both of New Carlisle; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services will be at 10am Wednesday in the St Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte.  Msgr John C. Witte, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to9pm Tuesday in the H.C. Amen & Son Funeral Home, New Carlisle, where a prayer service will be at 7:30pm Tuesday.
