SOUTH BEND - Patricia L. Horner, 72, a lifelong resident on the
south side of South Bend, passed away at 2:14 a.m. on Thursday,
March 25, 2010 at Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Horner was born on
January 8, 1938, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Kenneth and
Dorothy Hopkins. On December 24, 1975 in Grand Prairie, TX, she
married Markus Horner who preceded in death on October 15, 2006.
Patt loved being a teacher and working with students. She was
extremely proud of her 50 years of teaching for the South Bend
Community School Corporation. She taught at Hay, Muessel and
Monroe Schools. Mrs. Horner was a graduate of Riley High School,
earned her Bachelor's Degree from Bethel College and her Master's
Degree from Indiana University, South Bend. Patt is survived by
her daughter, Jennifer (Manuel) Navarro of South Bend; son,
Thomas Huston of Indianapolis; step-daughter, Leslie Ludwick of
South Bend; three step-sons, Gregg (Judith) Horner of South Bend,
Bradley (Cheryl) Horner of New Carlisle, and Marcus (Tanja)
Horner of Niles, MI; and eight grandchildren, one of which is
Veronica who she took a hand in raising. One sister, Jeanne (Bob)
Martin of Los Gatos, CA and three nephews also survives. A
funeral service for Mrs. Horner will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday,
March 28, 2010, at the Living Stones Church, 718 E. Donmoyer
Ave., South Bend. Rev. Sam Barrington will officiate. Graveside
services will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends
may visit with the family one hour prior to services at the
church on Sunday. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South
Bend is assisting with funeral arrangements. Online condolences

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Patricia L. Horner
may be donated to the Living Stones Church, 718 E. Donmoyer
Avenue, South Bend, IN 46614 to be earmarked for a special
project at Monroe Elementary School.
