Howard H. Hoose, 89, of Ironwood Road, South Bend, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, after an illness.
Mr. Hoose was born July 26, 1908, in Mishawaka as the son of the late William C. and Mary A. (Heidt) Hoose. On Jan. 28, 1933, in St. Monica's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, he married Ruby Williams. She survives along with two sons, Robert (Nancy) Hoose of Bangor, Mich., and Richard (Pam) Hoose of Pinckney, Mich.; one daughter-in-law, Lauretta Hoose of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Jean Handlang, Deborah Gargus, Janet Garvison, Rebecca De Grandchamp, Sandra Foreman, William Hoose, Karen Hupp, Angela Hoose and Michael Hoose; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Hoose was preceded in death by one son, William W. Hoose, on Oct. 9, 1994. He was also preceded by two sisters and five brothers.
Mr. Hoose worked for Schumacher Construction in Mishawaka for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Harvest House and Carpenters Union 413.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth St., Mishawaka, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
