Mishawaka - Martin Honold, age 80, 414 W. 4th Street, was found dead in his home by his wife this morning at 5 o’clock. Death is thought to have been caused by heart failure.

Mrs. Honold has arisen before 5 o’clock. After building a fire and getting breakfast ready she went to awaken her husband. When he did not respond to her call she investigated and found him dead in bed. Death had come several hours before it is believed.

Mr. Honold was in his usual good health Thursday and had worked all day at the factory. He came home Thursday night, ate his supper and seemed in unusually good spirits. Before retiring he told his wife that he would come home for lunch today.

Mr. Honold was born in Baden, Germany, March 14, 1840 and came to this country about 50 years ago. He was married to Miss Nekasea Roth, in Germany, Nov. 24, 1866, and she died Sept. 27, 1880. Three months later he was married to Miss Pauline Wiederman, who survives. To the first marriage was born one son, Jacob Honold, who lives in Chicago, and to the second marriage was born one son and two daughters, Edward Honold of Mishawaka, Mrs. Arthur Carter and Mrs. John W. Hart of Chicago. He also leaves one brother, Melser of Peoria, Ill.

After arriving in this country, Mr. Honold located in Elkhart, where he was associated with his brother in the brick making business. He came to Mishawaka in 1872, just at the time when the city was visited by the great fire, which destroyed the business district. He engaged in carpet weaving at his residence, 414 West 4th Street, and continued this business until the coming of the world war, when he accepted a position with the Mishawaka Woolen Manufacturing Company. Mr. Honold was one of the well known men of the city, was a member of the St. Joseph Mutual Benefit Association.

The funeral will be hled Monday morning at 9 o’clock in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Deal L. A. Moench, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
