SOUTH BEND - Deborah L. Holston, 58, of Roosevelt Road, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Holston was born on April 29,1950, in South Bend, and had resided in the Michiana area her lifetime. On December 19, 1970, in South Bend, as Deborah L. Woods, she married Lynn L. Holston Jr., who preceded her in death on February 13, 2007. Deborah is survived by her mother, Deloris D. Woods of South Bend; two daughters, Laura K. Holston of Mishawaka and Elizabeth E. Holston of South Bend; three grandchildren whom she loved and cherished, Andrew Holston, Alison Walker and Maryann Peugh; two sisters, Melissa D. Woods of Crumstown and Holly C. (Dennis) Kwiecinski of South Bend; and a brother, Matthew J. (Jeanne) Woods of Valparaiso. Deborah was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lynn, and her father, James A. Woods. At the time of onset of her illness, she was employed by School City of Mishawaka as a special education teacher. Deborah taught at Battell Elementary School. Mrs. Holston was a member of the First Brethren Church of Ardmore, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Mishawaka Education Association. She loved and cherished her grandchildren, loved gardening, numerous crafts, and loved to read. Also, she loved her little people at school. Deborah's wishes were to be cremated which was honored by her family. The family request NO FLOWERS and that all memorial contributions be made to the Hematology and Oncology Dept.'s at Memorial Hospital, 615 N. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601. A memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, in the First Brethren Church of Ardmore, located at 233 70 Ardmore Trail, South Bend, IN 46628. Pastor Stan Hullah will officiate. The family will visit with friends after the memorial service. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Holston family.
