MISHAWAKA - Dick L. Holsinger, 87, of Mishawaka, passed away at
10:30 p.m. on December 1st in Regency Place of South Bend. He was
born on July 22, 1921, to Orie and Cora Holsinger in Cassopolis,
Michigan. He moved to Mishawaka, Indiana, at a young age. He
graduated from Mishawaka High School. He married Jeanne Watts,
who passed away during childbirth in 1941. Dick served his
country during WWII and was based in Rattlesdon, England. He was
a bombardier on a B17, flying over 55 missions, in the 8th Air
Force division. After the war he had his own plane and enjoyed
his flights with it. He attended college in Ohio. Dick was a
salesman all his life. He retired as a supervisor from Webber
Bread Bakery in California in 1976. Dick enjoyed dancing,
reading, and especially traveling. He had a great passion for
history. He lived in Arizona for 23 years. He married Audrey
Newcomer in 1986, she survives along with his ex-wife, Florence.
Other survivors include his three daughters, Linda Waters of
Lancaster, California, Vickie Poulson of Stansbury Park, Utah,
and Nancy Peterson of Phoenix, Arizona. He also has a son, Jeff
Chance of Mishawaka, and a daughter, Cheryl Chance of South Bend
from his extended family with Audrey. He was the grandfather of
eight, Troy Chance, Aaron, Jason, Lindsey, and Ashley Peterson,
Billie and Jamie Poulson, Kimberly Stocking, who is the mother of
Dick's three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Luke and Kaid Stocking,
all living in St. George, Utah. A memorial service will be held
at 7 p.m. on December 8, 2008, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910
N. Main St., Mishawaka. As Dick had requested, he is being
cremated with his ashes being buried in Arlington National
Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
