SOUTH BEND - Sister Suzanne (Victoria Ioan Holloway), CSC,
94, was born in Plymouth to the late Clarence P. and Elizabeth I.
(Molter) Holloway. She was one of five daughters and was preceded
by her four sisters, Anna Mae, Leona, Lucy and Jane. Sister is
survived by nieces, Jeanne Silveus, Rose Mary Coccorran
and Norma Jean (David) Hannon, all of Indiana,
Catherine (Philip) Cantwell of California, Mary Ellen Easterday
and Cass Taylor of Florida, and Stacia Gillett in
Germany; nephews, Jack Taylor, Steve Switzer of Indiana
and Gerald R. Taylor of Michigan; a cousin, Catherine Brown
of Indiana; and many friends.
Sister entered the Congregation of the
Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1932 and taught in the junior high
grades for 42 years. She taught at Saint Mary's, Michigan City,
Saint Joseph, Holy Cross, Christ the King, South Bend, Saint
Mary's, Anderson, IN, Saint Theodore's, Chicago, and Holy
Redeemer, Evergreen Park, IL. Along with her duties as teacher,
Sister was, at times, principal, assistant superior and
stewardess. When ill health curtailed activities, Sister Suzanne
was librarian at Christ the King School. She moved to Saint
Mary's, Notre Dame, IN, and for seven years took care of the
chapel at Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame campus. As her health
diminished, Sister was receptionist at Saint Mary's Generalate,
receptionist and secretary at Mary's Solitude on the Saint Mary's
campus, and was active in volunteer service to the community.
Sister was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint
Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Reception of the Body will be on
January 2, 2008, at 9 a.m., in Church of Our Lady of Loretto,
Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. Funeral services will be on Jan. 2,
2008, at 1:30 p.m., in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint
Mary's, Notre Dame, IN.
