James T. Holland

MISHAWAKA - James T. "Tom" Holland, 87, passed away in his home on Thursday, July 24, 2008. Tom was born on May 23, 1921, in East St. Louis (St. Clare County), IL, to James T. and Minnie (Jewell) Holland. He was preceded in death by his parents. On July 8, 1946, in Union City, TN, he married the former Celeste Hayden. Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Celeste; two children, Linda Ann (Jack) Troyer of Watervliet, MI, and Glynn Richard Holland of Mishawaka, IN; three grandchildren, April, Emilie and Tommy; a sister, Mary Holland of Hickman, KY; and two brothers, Clayton Holland of Arlington, KY, and A.W. Holland of Indiana. Tom moved to Mishawaka in 1954. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, serving his country during WW II. Tom worked for Mishawaka Utilities as a meter installer for 23 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of De Amicis and VFW Post 360.

Visitation for Tom will be today, July 27th, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, July 28th, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Bob Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, with a graveside service by VFW Post 360/ American Legion Burial Team. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
