Mrs. Orlo (Martha) Holaday

January 22, 1909 – February 6,  1983

Mrs. Martha R. Holaday, 74, of 707 Thunderbird Drive, New Carlisle, died at 7pm Sunday in St Joseph’s Medical Center, following a two-week illness.  She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Olive Twp Elementary School for 40 years.

Born on January 22, 1909, in New Carlisle, she was a lifetime area resident.  On June 15, 1930, in New Carlisle, she married Orlo Holaday.  He survives along with three sisters, Mrs. Mary Alice Horvath of New Carlisle, Mrs. Ada Ruth Weaver of Huntington IN and Mrs. Vivian Purvis of Fort Wayne.  A brother, Carr V. Rodgers, preceded her in death.

Services will be conducted at 11am Wednesday in the Olive Chapel United Church of Christ, with Dr. Ernest Geist, pastor of the New Carlisle Community Church, officiating.  Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Tuesday in the H.C. Amen & Son Funeral Home.  Holaday was a member of the Olive Chapel Church, a past matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapel 320 and a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Olive Chapel Church of Christ or to the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 320.
