13, 1920 - Dec. 30, 2009SOUTH BEND - Theresa A. Hojnacki, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to Heaven in the early morning hours of December 30th, 2009, guided by a beautiful full moon. She was born on June 13, 1920, daughter of Paul and Theresa Vertesich, in South Bend Indiana. Theresa, a lifelong resident of South Bend, spent the last three months living in Maine with her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Alan Bouchard. She was a very creative woman, with a fine sense of style. She expressed her artistic gifts through her love of playing the piano, cooking and baking, and perhaps her favorite gift, gardening. She had a particular love of the beautiful rose, and was so talented with the finicky flower, she was able to show them in juried flower shows. Her gardens in South Bend were outstandingly beautiful, and were forever being noted by all who passed by her home. Her friends and family in Maine have many fond memories of her accompanying the Christmas sing-a-longs on the piano year after year, and she always baked a batch of her very special holiday treats, keffles and kolache. She was a very strong and independent woman who lost her beloved husband, Raymond, in 1969. Her dear friends in South Bend supported and assisted Theresa in so many ways through the subsequent years. The greatest source of joy in her life was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen and son-in-law Alan, of Falmouth, Maine, son, Wayne Hojnacki and his wife Camille, of Corpus Christi Texas; four grandchildren, Jessica Delaney of Somerville, Massachusetts, Adam Bouchard of Sherwood, Oregon, and Catherine Hojnacki and Michelle Hojnacki, both of Austin, Texas; two great granddaughters. Interment will be in South Bend, Indiana, later in the spring. Theresa's family would like to express its deep appreciation and thanks to the warm and wonderful caregivers from Hospice of Southern Maine and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
