SOUTH BEND - Irene C. Hoglan, 90, of Goshen, IN, formerly
of South Bend, passed away after an extended illness at 9 a.m.
Monday, May 26th, in Greencroft Health Care, Goshen. Mrs. Hoglan
was born on August 1, 1917, in Granger, IN, and had resided in
the Michiana area her lifetime.
On March 9, 1941, in South Bend, as Irene C.
Goron, she married Roger W. Middleton, who preceded
her in death in February 1965. On October 3, 1971, in Glenview,
IL, she married Forest A. Hoglan, who passed away in July 1993.
Irene is survived by a daughter, Janet E. (Joe) Tunis of
Deming, NM; and by a son, James E. (Susan) Middleton of Bend, OR.
Also surviving are five grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished. Mrs. Hoglan
was a homemaker, a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who
cared deeply about her family as they did her. She leaves behind
many wonderful memories to a very caring family. She will be
sadly missed by all who had the opportunity to be touched by this
wonderful lady. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a
sister, Dorothy Countryman, and her two loving husbands. Mrs.
Hoglan loved to oil paint, cook for her family, and collect
stamps and coins. She was a past member of PEO Organization and
past member of First Presbyterian Church of Goshen. The family
request that all memorial contributions be made to the Central
Oregon Community College Foundation, 2600 NW College Way, Bend,
OR 97701-5998; or to Greencroft Health Care Systems, 1300
Greencroft Drive, Goshen, IN 46526.
Visitation hours will be from 10 a.m. to 11
a.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Hanley & Sons" Southwest
Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana
23, South Bend. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m.
Thursday, May 29, in the funeral home. Burial to follow at
Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The HANLEY & Sons
"Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements
and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt
prayers to the family of Irene C. Hoglan.
