Carl J. Hoffman

May 18, 1916 - May 16, 2001

Carl Joseph Hoffman, 84, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away May 16, 2001. He was born to Austrian immigrant parents in South Bend on May 18, 1916. He served in the United States Army in W.W.II from 1941 - 1945, participating in the European theatre. He married Gay Gosztola in 1947 in South Bend, Indiana. The family moved from South Bend to Arizona in 1956.

He was employed with Studebaker prior to his move to Arizona. He was also a member of St. Anthony's Club. He retired from the U.S. Postal Office in Scottsdale in 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Gay; two sons: Michael C. Hoffman of Lakewood, California and James H. Hoffman of Scottsdale, Arizona; a brother, Edward Hoffman of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews. His brother, Henry "Hank" Hoffman preceded him in death in March, 1999.
