SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth "Betty" Hoffer, 93,
Princeton, IN, formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday, Feb. 14,
2008, in River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born
Sept. 28, 1914, in South Bend, daughter of Stephen and Rose (Horvath)
Cifra, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her
husband, Joseph Frank Hoffer; a son, Ronald W. Hoffer; her
brother-in-law, William Tarr; and a nephew, Ross Hoover.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Knight-Hoffer of
Princeton; grandsons, Matthew David Aaron Hoffer of Princeton and
Nicholas Joseph (Beka) Hoffer of Jeffersonville; a sister, Rose
Tarr of South Bend; and a niece, Lee Hoover of Edwardsburg, MI.
She retired as manager of industrial relations for Uniroyal of
Mishawaka, previously working 25 years at Bike Web, division of
Bauer and Black. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church
in South Bend. Her parents immigrated from Soprom, Hungary,
through Ellis Island to South Bend. She loved her grandchildren,
family, "The Price is Right" and "Wheel of
Fortune," and NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.
Services were held Sunday, Feb. 24, in Oak
Grove General Baptist Church, Oakland City, with Rev. Tony
Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley
Memorial Park in South Bend at a later date. The family requests
that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made
to the Elizabeth Hoffer Scholarship Fund, payable to Bethel
Christian School, 1520 South Main St., Princeton, IN 47670.
