MISHAWAKA - Vera E. Hoctel, 82, of Sunbelt Living Care Center, Orlando, Fla., formerly of Mishawaka, died at 5:35 p.m. Sunday in the nursing home. Mrs. Hoctel was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Cloverport, Ky., and lived in Mishawaka until moving to Florida in 1980.

On Sept. 2, 1935, in Tell City, Ind., as Vera E. Burke, she married Clarence Hoctel. He died Aug. 28, 1980. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Cox of Florida; a son, James H. of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Lucille Rolander of Florida and Alma Bierwagon of Michigan.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m.
