SOUTH BEND - Betty J. Hite, 90, of South Bend, passed away Monday evening in St. Paul's Retirement Center. She was born July 12, 1919, in Rochester, IN, to the late Charles and Rachel (Baldwin) Hoffman. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Monzetta Archer. On February 10, 1945, in Ventura, CA, she married William M. Hite, who died in 1984. She is survived by a daughter, Maurene Bradley (Bill) of South Bend; sons, Phillip Hite (Carol) and Kevin Hite of South Bend; four grandchildren, Leslie Pagels, Joseph Bradley (Shawan), Sara Hite and Lauren Hite; three great-grandchildren, Trent Pagels, Cole Pagels and J. Parker Bradley; and a sister, Mary Margaret Halstead of South Bend. Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. today, May 6th, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Rev. Daryl Rybiki officiating; cremation will follow. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
