Joseph H. Hiss, age 67, died this morning at 3:50 oclock at his home, 715 East Cedar street, following an illness of three week with diabetis [sic]. He was born in Ohio, Oct. 6, 1856, and had resided in this city 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Mary: three sons, John, Frank and Ulrich Hiss, all of this city, and four daughters, Mrs. Herbert Goheen and Mrs. Thomas Hickey, of this city, Irene Hiss, at home, and Sister Etheddreda, of the Poor Hand Maids in Chicago. Mr. Hiss was a member of the Catholic Knights of America, No. 408, of the Modern Woodmen of the World and of the Holy Name society of St. Josephs Roman Catholic church.

The funeral of Joseph H. Hiss, 713 East Cedar street, will be held Monday morning at 9 oclock at the St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Rev. William Lennartz, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.
