SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Aliceta Hipskind,
CSC, 90, of Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent, died at 9:35 a.m.
Monday in her residence. Sister M. Aliceta was born May 1, 1904,
in Wabash, Ind., as Mary Beatrice Hipskind. She entered the
Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on July 3, 1922;
was received as a novice Jan. 6, 1923; and professed her vows
Aug. 15, 1925. She was assigned to teaching in elementary schools
including St. Joseph and Holy Cross schools in South Bend, and in
Elkhart, Michigan City, Anderson, Ind., Fort Wayne, Indiana
Harbor, Illinois and New York City. She is survived by a sister,
Sister M. Dolorosa Hipskind CSC of South Bend; and three
brothers, Howard of Springfield, Mo., Phillip of Phoenix and
Robert of Wabash.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in
Church of Loretta, Saint Mary's. Burial will be in Our Lady of
Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's. Friends may call after 3 p.m.
Wednesday in the church, where a wake will be at 7 p.m. Hickey
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions
may be made to Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor
Fund, in care of Bertrand Hall, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
