MISHAWAKA - Edward W. Hiner, 71, of Buckeye Road,
Mishawaka, passed away following an illness at 11:18 p.m. Friday,
March 7, 2008, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South
Bend. He was born April 8, 1936, in Mishawaka, to Walter and Mary
(Luke) Hiner, who both preceded him in death.
On August 30, 1958, in South Bend, he
married the former Shirley A. Kati. She survives with two
daughters, Lori (Dana) Vogt of Columbus, IN, and Barbara
(Russell) Kurtz of Littleton, MA; six grandchildren,
Melissa and Megan Vogt, Nicholas, Ashley, Tyler and Katherine
Kurtz; a brother, Delbert (Willadean) Hiner of Holiday, FL; and a
sister, Barbara Cobb of Granger. He was preceded in death
by a brother, Lawrence Hiner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Queen of Peace Catholic Church where
friends will be received for one hour prior to the Mass and also
from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main
Street, Mishawaka. Burial will follow the Mass Tuesday at Chapel
Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Mr. Hiner was employed at the
Uniroyal Corp. for 36 years until his retirement in 1991. He was
also employed at Gunnite Corp. from 1992 to 1998. He was a member
of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. The family has requested that
memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia Society of
America, 921 E. 86th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
