Mrs. Carol Eberhart Hillier, a prominent resident, died
unexpectedly of natural causes at 10 a.m. Friday in her apartment
at 735 Lincoln Way E.
Mrs. Hillier, a descendant of the Eberhart family, residents of
Mishawaka for seven generations, was born in Mishawaka and
resided here her lifetime.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Bubb Funeral
Chapel, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2
to 4 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Manley F. Miller, reader of the First
Church of Christ, Scientist, of which Mrs. Hillier was a member,
will officiate, and burial will be in the Mishawaka City
Cemetery.
As Carol E. Eberhart, she married Samuel D. Hillier in Mishawaka
on June 14, 1921. He died Nov. 17, 1950.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James G. Perkins of Saline,
Mich.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs.
George W. Blair of Mishawaka.
Mrs. Hillier was a member of the Daughters of the American
Revolution, Literary Club, Antiquarian Society, Northern Indiana
Historical Society, Indiana Historical Society, Mishawaka Garden
Club, Art Council Board and PEO.
Mrs. Hillier was the founder in 1946 of the Mishawaka Children's
Museum and served as president of the museum's board for 25
years.
