SOUTH BEND - Martha A. Hickman, 87, of West Catalpa Street, Mishawaka, formerly of South Bend, died at 10:25 p.m. Sunday in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Mrs. Hickman was born April 9, 1906, in Chicago and lived in South Bend most of her life.

On Sept. 3, 1933, in Michigan City, as Martha Haeb, she married Melvin E. Hickman. He died in 1968. She is survived by a son, James D. of Granger; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Quinlan-Kofski of New Smyrna, Fla. A daughter, Jane Oberhauser, died in 1970. She was a member of Community Congregational Church and South Bend Progress Club.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or any charity.
