Melville E. Hickey

Melville E. Hickey, 74, of the Morningside Nursing Home, died at 5:30 p.m. in the nursing home after an extended illness.

Hickey was a retired Uniroyal Corp., Mishawaka employee. Born on March 30, 1902 in South Bend, he had lived here all his life.

On May 20, 1920 in South Bend, he married Leona C. Schroer, who died in 1969.

Surviving are two sons, Jon R. of South Bend and Thomas W. of Parkersburg, W. Va.; eight grandchildren; a half-sister, Geneva Reading of Manchester, Mass., and a half-brother, James Reading of Chicago.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Orvis-Palmer Funeral Homes. Rev. Charles Felton, pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until services Saturday in the funeral home. Hickey was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
