Leona C. Hickey

Mrs. Leona C. Hickey, 71, of 218 Riley Pl., died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks.

Born on Aug. 4, 1897 in Seymour, Ind., she had lived here for 53 years. On May 20, 1920 in South Bend, she married Melville E. Hickey who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jon R. of South Bend and Thomas W. of Hyattsville, Md.; seven grandchildren and a half-sister Mrs. Yula Myers of Seymour.

Friends may call in the Orvis Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from 2-4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until noon on Wednesday when the body will be taken to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Services will be held there at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Edmond W. Broders, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

She was a charter of the Arthritis Foundation and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.  Donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, St. Joseph County Chapter.
