Obituary: Donald F. Hickey

Nov. 10, 1915 -- September 15, 2003

Donald Francis Hickey, 87, of Westchester, Pa., formerly of Angela Blvd., South Bend, Ind., and Marco Island, Fla., died Monday morning in his home.

Don retired from Hickey Construction Company as Vice President.

He was born Nov. 10, 1915 in South Bend to Thomas L. and Kathryn B. (Hiss) Hickey who preceded him in death along with two brothers, Gerald J. and Louis J., and a sister, Kathleen Arnt.

Don lived in South Bend until 1980, retried and moved to Marco Island 1980-1997 and then to Westchester from 1997 until his death.

On June 14, 1948 in Los Angeles, Calif., he married Anne Mullen who survives along with two daughters, Sarah (Stephen) Connelly of Malvern, Pa., and Colleen Hickey of Princeton, N.J.; a son, Donald F. Hickey Jr. of Detroit; five grandchildren, Dan, Casey, Anne, Tom and Kerry.; a sister, Patricia (Gerald) Sarb of Dearborn, Mich.; and three brothers, Thomas L. (Virginia Belle) Hickey Jr. of South Bend, John P. (Mary) Hickey of Dover, Mass., and Joseph E. (Mary) Hickey of South Bend.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the Notre Dame Campus. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until services in the Basilica.

Don was a World War II Lieutenant (jg) with the US Navy during the Normandy Invasion. A 1934 graduate of Central High School and Notre Dame Class of 1938.
